Our Vision & Aims

Harris Federation exists to support and assist schools to build upon their existing strengths and so achieve rapid educational transformation.  Harris is a non-profit making educational charity with over twenty years’ of experience running schools in and around London.  Harris Academies comprise schools in both the secondary and primary sectors, both traditionally sponsored Academies and schools which have chosen to convert to Academy status.  We also work alongside parent groups in promoting Free Schools.

Harris Federation comprises five primary Academies, plus fourteen Secondary Academies.  These will be joined in September 2013 by the Harris Aspire Pupil Referral Free School in Bromley.  The all-though 3-18 Chobham Academy operated by the Harris Federation in partnership with Lend Lease, in the Athletes Village, Olympic Park  will also open in September 2013.

Harris offers high quality Initial Teacher Training and will offer placements to trainee teachers through Schools Direct from September 2012.  Additionally, as a Teaching School, Harris Federation is one of four license holders in London to offer the National Professional Qualification for Head teachers alongside a wide range of school improvement services including brokering support from Specialist Leaders of Education to assist other schools.  (For more information, see our Teaching School website at www.harristeachingschool.com).

Our strategic aim is nothing short of the complete transformation of educational opportunities for communities in and around London and with this in mind, the Federation has so far overseen an investment of approximately £170m in new buildings to provide the finest possible educational facilities for young people in London.
