Two more Harris Academies judged to be 'Outstanding' by Ofsted
Eight Harris Academies now judged as Outstanding by Ofsted – an unmatched record.
Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich and Harris Academy Purley, both of which opened in September 2009, have been rated by Ofsted as “Outstanding”.
The two Academies were inspected in December 2011. They are the seventh and eighth Harris Academies to achieve Outstanding status, out of 11 that have so far been inspected.
Commenting on the reports, Dr Dan Moynihan, Chief Executive of the Harris Federation said:
“To achieve Outstanding Ofsted status only two years after opening is a superb achievement. I would like to extend my thanks and congratulations to the students, staff and leadership teams of Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich and Harris Academy Purley.
“Before opening them, only a short while ago, we promised parents in both areas that we would deliver successful new Academies with drive and ambition.
“The Ofsted judgements show how much it is possible to achieve and I have no doubt that this early success will drive both Academies to achieve even more greatly.
“Inspectors found the quality of teaching at both Academies to be Outstanding. Well trained and well-resourced teachers are a hallmark of every Harris Academy and we are looking forward to opening our Training School in 2012, which will allow us to develop this even further.”
