Proposed Free School in Tottenham

We are working with Academy for Entrepreneurship and Sporting Excellence (AESE), a group of local families and community members, to develop our plans. 
 
About 200 local parents and children came to our recent meeting at Tottenham Town Hall to hear about the Free School. The meeting was extremely positive.  We were pleased to meet so many local people and are grateful to AESE for organising the meeting.

If the Free School is given the go-ahead to open, it would:
  • Serve local children of all abilities, from age 4 to age 18
  • Emphasise traditional values: good manners, hard work, smart uniform and excellent behaviour
  • Have a well-rounded curriculum with a special emphasis on entrepreneurship and sport
  • Provide extra tuition, either in small groups or on a one-to-one basis for children who need it
  • Give younger students a headstart in the secondary curriculum by having subjects such as history and science as well as modern foreign languages taught by specialist teachers
  • Open in the early morning so children can come for breakfast and stay open in the evenings for study clubs and activities provided by AESE.

In deciding whether or not to allow the Free School to proceed, the Department for Education will be looking closely at local need and demand.
