Harris Academy Wimbledon

Welcome

Harris wimbledonHarris Academy Wimbledon will be a brand new school with drive and ambition. We will build on the well-established success of the Harris Federation. The Federation has been recognised as a top performer by education researchers at the Department for Education, Sutton Trust and Education Policy Institute as well as Watchsted and PwC.

Our new building, opening in September 2020, will be an addition to the regeneration of the High Path area. For the first two years, the academy will operate from Whatley Avenue in the redeveloped adult education centre. This will be well-equipped for our school and we will have access to sports fields at the nearby Joseph Hood Recreation Ground.

The academy will be founded on a powerful vision and forward thinking ethos which will provide high quality teaching for both boys and girls between the ages of eleven and eighteen. It will be based upon the highest expectations for all students. Students will have a high level of regard for their surroundings, fellow students and the school community. Students will be expected to succeed and success will be the norm for all. The academy will foster independence, resilience and integrity. Students will be taught to be brave, take risks and to challenge themselves.

To deliver our vision and ensure every student achieves his or her true potential; the curriculum will be rich, diverse and personalised. We believe every student should be stretched and challenged through a balanced, rigorous and demanding curriculum. We place appropriate emphasis on the core subjects – maths, English and science – but we also believe in the importance of the humanities, languages, PE and arts subjects in the welfare and development of our students.

We will offer acceleration, extension and enrichment to challenge our more able learners and will provide excellent intervention programmes for students who require extra support.

As the only year group in the school, our first 120 children will benefit from the highly focused attention of our teachers and it will be the best and easiest possible transition between primary and secondary school. To register your interest in one of these places, click here.

We hope that you find this website helpful and informative. It will be added to regularly so please do check back for updates. In the meantime, please email us if you have any questions that are not answered here.
