Harris Federation Primary Sports Day - success for young sports stars
Thirteen Harris primary academies took part in the Federation’s inter-academy Sports Day at Crystal Palace stadium on 8th June. Over 350 Year 4, 5 and 6 children took part in events, ranging from 70-metre sprints to high jump and turbo javelin throwing.
The overall winner was Harris Primary Academy Crystal Palace, with Harris Primary Academy Chafford Hundred taking the top spot for Year 6 girls’ and Year 6 boys’ events. Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park came first in year 4 girls’ events.
Lord Harris, Sponsor and Chairman of the Harris Federation, who presented the trophies and medals to the children, said:
“The Federation Sports Day is a chance for our rising young sports stars to test themselves against others and for everyone to make new friends in other academies. It’s always a highlight of the summer term.
“The children really gave it their all. There was a real carnival atmosphere at the Stadium, with Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park's steel band playing and children loudly cheering on their own teams. Well done to all those who took part and a big thank you to the staff who organised the day brilliantly.”
