Harris Academy Tottenham to Partner with The Royal Ballet School
Harris Academy Tottenham has been selected by The Royal Ballet School for its prestigious Advance Project next academic year – the only all-through academy in the UK that will have this opportunity.
An Artist-in-Education at The Royal Ballet School will visit Harris Academy Tottenham for two hours per week during the spring term to teach students – who will have had no previous ballet experience – and to choreograph a brand new piece. This will culminate in a performance at White Lodge in Richmond in March.
The Royal Ballet School will host all-day weekend rehearsals at their state-of-the-art studios. Additionally, students from Harris Academy Tottenham and The Royal Ballet School are to spend a day in each other’s schools, experiencing life at another educational institute.
The final phase of the partnership will be the performance in The Royal Ballet School’s magnificent theatre at White Lodge. The performance will be fully costumed and professionally lit by The Royal Ballet School and will be attended by its governors and key staff. It is set to be an unforgettable experience for the students.
Lisa Kattenhorn, Principal of Harris Academy Tottenham, said:
“It is a real honour to have been chosen to partner with The Royal Ballet School. I am delighted that our students will have the opportunity to perform at the prestigious White Lodge and to apply themselves to a new skill. I know that they will make us proud, as they always do, and I can’t wait to see the end result.”
