Affordable Housing for Teachers

Since 2016, the Harris Federation has been campaigning for the funding and planning reforms needed for academy trusts to address the housing shortage for teachers in London.

Launching our campaign for academy trusts to be able to turn unused land on their school sites into affordable housing for teachers, Sir Dan Moynihan said:

“It’s always been an expectation that teaching is a respectable profession and you should be entitled to have somewhere to live…we’ve put up over £200 million worth of school buildings – we’ve built them very efficiently. Why couldn’t we also build low cost housing for teachers?”

We continue to work with government and other key partners to identify a way forward. To follow our campaign, please check this web-page.
