Oxbridge Calling: Harris Federation Sixth Formers Receive Offers from Oxford and Cambridge
An impressive 66 students from across the Harris Federation have been offered places to study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities on highly competitive courses including English Literature, Maths and Chemical Engineering.
13 of the successful students attend Sixth Forms which are part the Harris Federation’s secondary Academies. This is the highest number of offers ever achieved by these Sixth Forms. This year also sees three Academies – Harris Academy Orpington, Harris Academy Tottenham and Harris Lowe Academy Willesden – receive their first-ever offers from Oxbridge. A fantastic achievement which will inspire younger students to follow in their footsteps.
In applying to university and preparing for their interviews, students benefited from the expert guidance and advice of Harris Experience Advanced – our cross-Federation initiative providing high-quality, academic opportunities for our most able Sixth Formers.
The Federation’s highly successful, stand-alone Sixth Form, Harris Westminster Sixth Form, has received 53 offers – its second highest ever. Impressively, 36% of those who applied have been given offers – significantly higher than the offer rate at both Oxford and Cambridge which is typically between 16% and 21%.
We are thrilled for all those who have received offers - 30% of whom are eligible for the Post-16 Bursary or Free School Meals - demonstrating our ongoing commitment to ensuring all our students are given every opportunity to follow their careers of choice - regardless of background.
Places are conditional on achieving the required grades but these Sixth Formers have shown an incredible work ethic and we know our Sixth Forms across the Harris Federation will be giving them whatever support they need to achieve their very best.
