An opportunity has arisen for a well qualified science teacher (ideally with a Chemistry specialism) - needed as soon as possible. Fantastic young people, supportive department. https://t.co/xn7HMSm4tt https://t.co/BRTQQrPkzV

I know there have been a lot of negative comments aimed at Harris recently. Speaking as a Drama teacher in a Harris school, I can confidently say that my subject is loved and valued amongst the staff. I also know that my SLT will do whatever is right for each individual pupil.

Academy Description:

Harris Academy Merton is an 11-18 co-educational Academy for 1,500 students. The Academy opened in September 2006 on the site of the predecessor school. The Academy benefits from a brand new state-of-the-art Post 16 block and high quality buildings. Harris Merton is judged by Ofsted to be an Outstanding School. Harris Merton offers specialisms in Enterprise and Science. It is an oversubscribed school at the heart of its local community.

Academy Ethos:

At Harris Academy Merton we promote the ethos 'Achievement is Success’ and believe every student has the right to the highest standard of education so that they can accomplish their aspirations. Our aim is to give every student an educational experience that is enjoyable and holistic so that they develop into responsible, articulate, successful and well-rounded young people.

We combine the traditional values of strong discipline, good manners, respect and pride in appearance with contemporary best practice in teaching and technology. With these core values embedded, we develop our students into confident and capable individuals that have a desire to excel academically and personally now and in the future.

Students are rewarded for developing the right behaviours and attitudes, for trying hard and being persistent, for a courteous and considerate manner, for attending regularly and for achieving their personal best. They are taught the value of hard work and determination.
