From classrooms to family courts, every part of the structure that protects children from harm has been upended. What has happened behind closed doors, asks ? https://t.co/mvKHYUUH53 https://t.co/NuV8pAa8KB

Yes. We aren’t helping them to write like Shakespeare. No-one acts like Burton. Though he was of course known primarily for his Hamlet and was successor to Olivier. Few of our kids get a leg up from Gielgud. We have to give it with English & Maths & employer engagement https://t.co/TBGyJr2I8S

One of the exhilarting things about being a small part in is watching huge success of the students we serve across all the schools not just doing the arts: but excelling. Here at 40% got a 9 in arts based subjects. https://t.co/zT0iUFkjon

The quote was an answer to a question. Context is the kind of child who wld otherwise not achieve b/c of their circs pre COVID compounded by lockdown. In that situation, it is better for the child to get fewer quals than take all subjects but in the end have little to show for it

5/5: And, as explained to the reporter, but not set out in her article, whether this happens at all will also depend on the Ofqual consultation on 2021 exams – eg whether they reduce the content or introduce choice in the syllabus.

05/07/20

4/5: The subjects they continue with would be based on what they want to do for their A Levels. Our pupils choose and pass languages and arts subjects at significantly higher rates than other pupils nationally. This won’t change. See https://t.co/ZH9H1MyHoM

Academy Description

Harris Invictus Academy Croydon was opened in September 2014 because of the significant demand in the community for new, high-quality school places. In achieving our aims, we are building on the success of the three other Harris Academies in Croydon. Ofsted calls all three of these schools ‘Outstanding’. They are oversubscribed with around seven applications for every place available.

We collaborate with all the Harris Academies, but work particularly closely with Harris Academy Purley, with which Harris Invictus Academy Croydon shares its Executive Principal.

Academy Ethos

We believe that when a school gives its students the confidence to believe they are capable of excellence, this is exactly what they go on to achieve.

Our ethos is grounded in the best traditions of hard work, good manners, smart uniform and academic achievement.  We combine these with the best of modern teaching and technology.  Class sizes are kept as small as possible and students will find that the atmosphere is disciplined and rigorous but also happy.

At Harris Invictus Academy Croydon, learning does not begin and end at the classroom door.  Students regularly participate in after-school enrichment classes, activity days and educational visits.  In addition to what they learn in the classroom, these activities help to bring learning alive.
