Harris Federation Results 2014

Congratulations to our Year 11 students, who achieved some very good results in their GCSEs this morning.

Overall across the Federation:

  • 77% of Harris students achieved an A*-C grade in English, compared to the national figure of 61.7%;
  • 77% of Harris students achieved an A*-C grade in Maths, compared to the national figure of 62.4%;
  • 23% achieved the English Baccalaureate, a significant increase on last year’s 18%;
  • 65% achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths.  Because our Academies have eliminated BTECs for the vast majority of students, this figure remains high at 62% without equivalents included.  Both of these figures compare favourably to last year’s national averages which are the most recently available – 60% and 54.5% respectively;
  • 63% of our English as an Additional Language students, 56% of those on the Pupil Premium and 34% with Special Educational Needs achieved  5 A*-C grades including English and Maths.  Again, these are comfortably higher than last year’s national figures of 58%, 41% and 23%;
  • Progress in Maths and English remain high: 81% of students made the expected 3 Levels of Progress in English and 36% made 4 Levels of Progress.  In Maths, 79% made 3 Levels of Progress and 36% made 4 Levels of Progress.

On average, each of our sponsored Academies has increased the proportion of students achieving five A*-C grades including English and Maths by 29 percentage points since coming under Harris leadership.

Having consistently and dramatically improved our Academies’ results every year since the Federation was established, it is pleasing to see a significantly higher English Baccalaureate score than ever before and good progress across the core curriculum.

Well done to all the Year 11 students involved; thanks also to our teachers, support staff, leaders and parents for their hard work and effort.
