I welcome this as it creates the opportunity to look at this beyond an ideology that says you cannot be broad and balanced in a 3 year KS4 model. I’ve seen a number of examples where children get a rich offer and this research will help the debate https://t.co/Enl76DA2Po

Harris Academy Coleraine Park Tops Pupil Progress Tables

"Pupils develop faster than at any other sponsored primary Academy in the country"

"Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park is the best primary school in Haringey for pupil progress"

The Department for Education has rated Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park as the top sponsored primary Academy in the country for academic progress made by pupils between the ages of seven and eleven.

Most children at the Academy, which was rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted last year, speak English as a second language. Despite this, they are learning more quickly and successfully than in other sponsored Academies to achieve well in their Year 6 SATs.

The progress measure, which is used to rank all schools, is known as ‘value added’. Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park achieved a value added score for 2014 of 103.1, which is significantly above the expected progress score of 100.

Alongside its national achievement, the progress of pupils at the Academy last year was ranked as the strongest of any primary in Haringey. It opened in 2012 alongside the nearby Harris Primary Academy Philip Lane, which also performed impressively to be ranked fourth in the borough for pupil progress with a value added score of 102.1.

“We are delighted to be recognised as the top sponsored primary Academy in the country for the progress made by our pupils.   Many of our children start the Academy speaking very little English. However, our unrelenting focus on high expectations, confidence building, creative learning and an extended curriculum have ensured these results. This was a school with a history of underachievement but every member of staff here now works tirelessly to realise our motto of achieving ‘exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can think or imagine’.”

Joanne Taylor, Executive Principal of Harris Academy Coleraine Park

“Many congratulations to all staff and pupils on this exceptional accomplishment. Along with Joanne Taylor and the Governing Body they have brought about rapid improvement in the quality of education at the school, which is now rightfully recognised as outstanding.”

Sir Dan Moynihan, Chief Executive of the Harris Federation
