Harris Academy Battersea celebrates excellent summer exam results

Students at Harris Academy Battersea are celebrating after another year of excellent GCSE and A Level results.

Before joining the Harris Federation, only 44% of students were achieving A*-C in English and Mathematics at GCSE. This figure has almost doubled with 83% of students achieving this measure this year.

The academy also saw a significant increase in its EBacc score (A*-C or 4 and above in the core academic subjects), which increased from 41% in 2016 to 54% this year. This is well above the national average, which was 23% in 2016.

Amidst the success of the academy as a whole at GCSE level, there were a number of outstanding achievements by individual students, including 16 year old Anita Fonseca.

Anita achieved the very best results possible, with straight A*s in sociology, physics, chemistry, biology, French, Spanish, geography and statistics. She also has been awarded an impressive two 9s (the new ‘super grade’ in the new numerical grading system for maths and English).

Anita was featured in the Wimbledon Guardian live blog.
