A Level results 2019
Congratulations to all 2,000 students collecting A Level results at our academies today.
2019 was another very successful year for sixth formers in the Harris Federation.
At the Harris Federation Sixth Form, which encompasses ten of our academies, many students have been placed at top universities including Oxford, UCL and Warwick. We’re also proud to have students going on to an array of the most competitive apprenticeships including Accenture, Capgemini and IBM.
Harris Westminster Sixth Form, which prioritises academically able students from the most disadvantaged backgrounds, had its best year yet. 27% of students achieved A*AA or better including 8 with 4A* and a further 7 with 3A*. 24 students met their offer to go to Oxford or Cambridge, one of whom has taken up the opportunity to go to Princeton in the USA. Others have secured places at some of the most competitive courses in the UK, including at UCL, LSE and Warwick. 19 students from Harris Westminster are going on to study Medicine or Dentistry - congratulations to all.
Elsewhere in the Harris Federation, seven students met their Oxbridge offers with an eighth who has a place on an Oxford Foundation Course. At least half of these students are the first generation in their family to go to university and all have beaten extraordinary odds to secure their places. They will all be studying subjects they love, whilst helping to change the face of two of the most elite universities in the world. Well done to their schools (Harris Academy Falconwood, Harris City Academy Crystal Palace, Harris Academy Bermondsey, Harris Academy Battersea and
Harris Academy Chafford Hundred) for supporting them, as well as the team at Harris Experience.
At Harris Academy Greenwich, students achieved 45% A*-B in A level and over 80% Distinction or Distinction* in vocational courses. Harris Garrard Academy’s first cohort of Sixth Formers completed their studies this summer and achieved 90% A*-C in their A levels. Harris Academy Tottenham achieved its best results to date including in
A level maths where 85% of students achieved an A*-C grade. Three students from Harris Academy Chafford Hundred are off to study Medicine and one from Chobham Academy.
Oxbridge places:
31 students from across the Harris Federation met their offers for Oxford and Cambridge, plus a further student who will be doing an Oxford Foundation Course. These include Daniel from Harris Academy Chafford Hundred who is among the highest achieving students in the country with 7 A* grades.
We wish Daniel, and the whole of our outgoing Year 13, every success and happiness.
