From classrooms to family courts, every part of the structure that protects children from harm has been upended. What has happened behind closed doors, asks ? https://t.co/mvKHYUUH53 https://t.co/NuV8pAa8KB

One of the most brilliant things about is how they are able to look at complex issues in such depth. Very proud to have contributed to this piece by https://t.co/kcFHz1sZhk

Yes. We aren’t helping them to write like Shakespeare. No-one acts like Burton. Though he was of course known primarily for his Hamlet and was successor to Olivier. Few of our kids get a leg up from Gielgud. We have to give it with English & Maths & employer engagement https://t.co/TBGyJr2I8S

One of the exhilarting things about being a small part in is watching huge success of the students we serve across all the schools not just doing the arts: but excelling. Here at 40% got a 9 in arts based subjects. https://t.co/zT0iUFkjon

The quote was an answer to a question. Context is the kind of child who wld otherwise not achieve b/c of their circs pre COVID compounded by lockdown. In that situation, it is better for the child to get fewer quals than take all subjects but in the end have little to show for it

05/07/20

5/5: And, as explained to the reporter, but not set out in her article, whether this happens at all will also depend on the Ofqual consultation on 2021 exams – eg whether they reduce the content or introduce choice in the syllabus.

05/07/20

4/5: The subjects they continue with would be based on what they want to do for their A Levels. Our pupils choose and pass languages and arts subjects at significantly higher rates than other pupils nationally. This won’t change. See https://t.co/ZH9H1MyHoM

05/07/20

3/5: The overwhelming majority will take the full range of subjects. But in EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES, it may be that a minority of pupils need to take fewer subjects in order to cover the content of the rest of their choices in the depth needed to pass.

05/07/20

2/5: The example we gave to the reporter of the kind of pupil who may take fewer subjects: someone badly persistently absent before lockdown, then who missed three months because of lockdown - and who cannot be expected to pass 8 or 9 GCSEs with just two terms of teaching.

05/07/20

1/5: The Sunday Times has amended its online article to clarify that a MINORITY of Harris pupils could take fewer GCSEs next year. In reality, this will be a tiny no. of pupils who haven't engaged with online learning and who cannot catch up in the 2 terms left before their exams
