Harris Primary Academy Beckenham Green to open pop-up bookshop

Enterprising pupils and staff at Harris Primary Academy Beckenham Green are to open a community bookshop.

Customers will be able to choose from a huge number of pre-loved books, priced at £1 each, all donated by the academy’s parents and staff. There are also plenty of games and puzzles costing £2.

Proceeds from the bookshop will be put towards taking all 200 pupils in the school on a fully-funded trip to Port Lympne Safari Park, to visit the endangered animals that each class has adopted and been named after.

The bookshop will officially open this week and be open for business from 2.45–3.45pm each Friday - all in the community are welcome!

Emma Catley, Head of Harris Primary Academy Beckenham Green, said:

“As well as raising funds for the academy, this is a wonderful opportunity for children and adults to acquire new, pre-loved books and toys to use and enjoy.  Parents and staff have donated thousands of books, all in great condition, and everyone is excited about what they are going to buy.

“We are also really looking forward to welcoming in neighbours and residents from the local community, and grateful to everybody for their support which will make a positive difference to children in our school.”
