HARRIS FEDERATION WINS PRESTIGIOUS EMPLOYABILITY AWARD

The Harris Federation is pleased to have been awarded the MESMA Quality Collaboration and Employability Award at the Quality Professional Awards for Further Education and Employability.

The Award recognises the Federation’s trailblazing partnership with Successful Mums Career Academy through which parents – especially mums – are supported back into meaningful school-based roles.

Working with Successful Mums Career Academy, the Federation has delivered the Working in Schools programme – an eight-week course designed to upskill parents and give them the confidence to apply for jobs in schools.  The course covers digital and administrative skills, classroom experience and confidence building – with participants achieving a Level 2 qualification.

In just 18 months, the programme has supported 300 women through coffee mornings, webinars and an accredited training course.  70% of women on the programme have progressed into employment, volunteering or further study.

By working with Successful Mums and providing tailored, family-friendly training, the Federation has helped hundreds of local women rediscover their confidence and take the next steps in their careers.

Commenting on the award, Natasha Evans, Harris Institute Director of Teacher Development, said:

“We are incredibly proud of what this partnership has achieved and the impact it has made on the local communities we serve and beyond.

“This award is not just a celebration of great teamwork – it’s also a reminder of what can happen when schools and specialist providers work together to empower people and change lives. We look forward to continuing this important work with Successful Mums and welcoming more opportunities for collaboration that benefit our families and communities.”
